Newsletter (5) Summer 2010

Dear Members

As we head towards our Summer break in August here are just a few notes and dates for your diary. We hope you have enjoyed the meetings so far this year and look forward to any input you may have for next year as Pauline is putting together the final touches to the programme for 2011. Carole

4th September 2010 At this meeting we will be holding a bring and buy sale in the morning 11 am -1 pm. Bring any nice clean items, unwanted gifts etc for sale on the day and hopefully we will raise lots of money for the group and the Ellenor Hospice.

Saturday 9th October 2010 Knitting & Stitching Show Alexandra Palace London All being well and sufficient support we will run a coach to the show as we have done in the past two years. We will keep the cost as close as possible to £20. A board will circulate at the June and July meetings so that we can gauge interest and numbers. You will be asked to pay a deposit of £10 at the September meeting when we will confirm the final cost. The coach will leave from Meopham Library at 9.00am.

4th October to 1st November 2010 Meopham Library Exhibition of Members work This will be our first public exhibition of our work and I’m sure it will be well received by visitors to the library. We would like every member to put at least one piece into the exhibition and your work can include items for wall hanging but these require mirror plates on the back for fixing as the items have to be secured with screws to the wall. There is also a Display Cabinet for smaller items. Please bring your work for entry to the 4th September meeting packed in a cotton bag with your name securely attached and a list of what you have included for display. If we are inundated with pieces then we may have to limit the amount of work displayed but we will ensure that everyone has at least one piece on show. Your work will be returned to you on Saturday 6th November.

Search Press books Don’t forget to order your Search Press books from Carole. You will get 25% discount and the group benefits by a 10% discount so everyone is a winner. If you don’t have a current catalogue ask Carole for one.

TACKS tablecloth June is co-ordinating this project. It is a dark blue table cloth that we can use for events and every member will be asked to embroider their name on the cloth. If you have not done your name yet please ask June who will organise for you to take it home for 1 month to embroider.

1st meeting of 2011 Please note that due to January 1st being a bank holiday (and a day of rest!) we have moved our meeting date forward by one week to Saturday January 8th. We will remind you again nearer the time and by then you will have the new programme card for 2011.

And finally, we would like to welcome Iris, Sylvia and Barbara on to the TACKS team. We need new ideas and input as we move into our fourth year, so if you have any suggestions do let us know.
