5th June 2010 - Four Corners
Pottery Painting, Duck Pincushion and Trapunto Taster
Today’s meeting wasn’t quite what we planned as Pat Trott, who was to have given her talk on beads and beading, was unable to come at the last minute due to illness. We wish her well and hope that she can come at some point in the future.
Earlier in the day Emma’s Duck Pincushion corner had overflowed onto the Stitch and Chat corner and both Tracey’s Pottery Painting and Pauline’s Trapunto Taster corners were full to capacity. Pauline had prepared a simple but effective trapunto design which members stitched and quilted. Some delightful pots were distributed and painted and we can hardly wait to receive the glazed pots back next month.
After lunch, Sue, who is showing us how to embroider on net next month, had fortunately brought some delightful samples with her so she took the opportunity to show them around and we then discussed what is happening next month with this year’s Pass the Embroidery hanging and the calligraphy taster session which we have planned for the same day.
After this, Emma’s people were only too delighted to continue making the duck pincushion since it was quite a complicated piece and they needed more time. Meantime everyone else got out their knitting, stitching, beading, cord making etc and worked away, chatting happily amongst themselves.
On the Show and Tell table there was once again a selection of postcards and some other delightful items including a stunning crazy patchwork bag, a lovely embroidered butterfly and an amazing motif embroidered on a calico bag.
Following discussions at our recent management team meeting which now includes Iris, Sylvia and Barbara, we were trying out a new table layout today to allow more room at the tables. This was at the suggestion of Sylvia and Barbara and we have to say that it is a great improvement.
Forty members attended the meeting, one of whom was renewing her membership and there was one visitor.
