TEXTILE ARTS CRAFTS KNITTING STITCHING

3rd April 2010 - Four Corners - Postcards
We had wondered whether members might be a bit thin on the ground at our April meeting as it was on Easter Saturday and we had already been warned of several absences with people going away for the holiday. But we should have known better! Every “corner” was full to overflowing.
Carole had prepared some fabric with a variety of transfers for embroidering, Pauline had been given a bag of scraps left over from wedding dresses, including embroidered fabric, which made wonderful scraps for crazy patchwork, and Tricia had prepared fabrics for appliqué to produce a picture of a vase of flowers.
A good deal of concentration was applied to the projects in hand as well as lots of chat and laughing, but fortunately our members are well skilled in the art of multi-tasking so the chatter and laughter did not delay the proceedings and by lunch time things were taking shape and the iron was well busy with bonding the postcard “sandwiches”. An hour or so later and we were able to display some finished (or nearly finished) postcards for everyone to view, along an exceptional display of items on the Show and Tell table. Amongst these were some objects which we will be making at future meetings and a really beautiful piece of paper craft in the form of a flower fairy book.
A really good day which was attended by 36 members and four visitors.
