What to bring to Meetings in 2010 (October and December revised February 2010)

The Usual standard sewing kit, including a variety of sewing and beading needles, pins, embroidery scissors and scissors for cutting fabric and paper. And, if you need them, your glasses. Not forgetting your lunch or course.    

2nd January—Four Corners all day

Small ring frame. Joan will bring fabric and ribbons (cost about £1) but bring your own if you prefer (ironed). Greetings or mount card for mounting embroidery.

Old tights/stockings, coloured if possible. Flower wire and beads.

Tricia will bring supply main fabric but please bring two pieces bright patchwork/ dress weight cotton fabric about 3 inches square and matching sewing cotton. Small amount of stuffing to fill 4 inch pincushion.

Joy will bring kits (£2) in addition to which you will need pencil, ruler, paper scissors and glue stick (Pritt or similar)

6th March—All day Workshop—                  with Barbara Walters

"Inspired by Nature”  Fabric and Stitch

 

Bring any natural objects that inspire you: shells, stones, flowers, feathers ....Plus basic design and embroidery equipment. Optional extras:  magnifying glass, camera. Barbara will bring some materials if required, nominal replacement cost about £1.

3rd April—All day - Postcards project

Doreen will provide kits (£1). A small iron and pressing board would be useful.

50p will cover the supply of the main materials but please bring your own decorative threads, and beads if you like.  A small embroidery ring/frame would be useful, as would a pen for marking on fabric.

Small pieces of the larger size Ric-Rac braid, threads of match. Embroidery fabric or similar 6”x6” approx preferably in a frame. Iris will also supply the braid for a small charge.

June will provide kits for about £1.

Seed beads size 11/ or 9/ in 2 colours. 100 x 4mm facet beads or 100 x 4mm crystal beads or 100 6mm round beads. Beading thread and needle.

5th June—Morning Corners :

Tracey will bring a supply of small mugs, plates and bowls (min £6 max £20) which you will be able to decorate with materials and patterns provided. She will take items for firing and return them at the July meeting.

Emma will supply a kit for a small charge.

3rd July—All day projects

Today we will start collecting items for the Bring and Buy sale in September

All materials will be provided but bring your own favourite decorative bits if you like. Be prepared to hand over to someone else after a set period of time.

Tacking cotton (NOT white), white sewing cotton (cotton rather than polyester if possible), crewel needles no. 10 or 12, no. 60 crochet cotton or perle 12, tissue paper, small scissors (the ones they call lace scissors with a bump on the tip, if you have them), nylon tulle (net) and cotton or nylon organdie - Sue will bring some of both of these.

Suitably lined paper will be provided. Appropriate felt pens will be available to pur- chase at cost. Of course if you already have a pen with an italic nib please bring it.

4th September

Bring and Buy Sale 

As well as any additional items for the Bring and Buy Sale, at this meeting, and the next please bring items for the exhibition in Meopham Library which we will be setting up on 4th October. More news nearer the time about what we will be exhibiting.

2nd October—Projects for Christmas—Small Christmas Wreaths and tree ornaments

More info nearer the time, but Christmassy/glitzy fabric will definitely be included in the list.

6th November - morning only              AGM and Question Time 

 

4th December - All day Patchwork Workshop with Jennie Rayment

 

Jennie will bring kits, cost about £4/£5. But you could bring patchwork fabric etc of your own if you like. No need to bring lunch as a buffet lunch will be provided.
